It\u2019s often assumed to be a wart\u2026 or a corn. <\/h2>\n\n<p>While they may look similar, these two conditions are actually very different.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plantar Wart<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Caused by a virus (HPV)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contagious<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rough surface, sometimes with small black dots (clotted blood vessels)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Often painful when pinched from the sides<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can multiply (mosaic warts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corn or Callus<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Skin thickening due to repeated pressure or friction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not contagious<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Typically painful when pressed directly or while walking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commonly located on pressure points (toes, ball of the foot)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Why is diagnosis important? Because the treatments are completely different. A <a href=\"https:\/\/podisante.ca\/en-ca\/corns-and-calluses\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1695\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corn<\/a> can be safely debrided (trimmed), while a <a href=\"https:\/\/podisante.ca\/en-ca\/plantar-warts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1671\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wart<\/a> requires topical antiviral or laser therapy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Foot pain on the sole?
