But we must not confuse them.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plantar fasciitis<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inflammation of the plantar fascia (membrane under the foot)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharp pain in the heel, especially in the morning or after a period of inactivity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Often caused by poor footwear, flat or high arched feet, or overtraining<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is treated with rest, orthoses, cortisone injections, stretching exercises and therapies (laser, shock waves)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heel spur<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Small bony growth visible on X-ray<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frequently present <strong>without causing pain<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not necessarily responsible for plantar fasciitis, but may be a sign of chronic mechanical stress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Most often, it is plantar fasciitis that causes the pain.
