At PodiSanté, we offer comprehensive and personalized care to effectively treat nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis.
Clinical evaluation and mycological testing
All treatment begins with a thorough podiatric assessment. The podiatrist examines the affected nail and, if necessary, takes a nail sample to confirm the diagnosis with a laboratory test. This step helps rule out other pathologies and tailor treatment to the specific nature of the infection.
Topical antifungal treatment
We use medical-grade topical antifungals, which are more powerful than those available over the counter. These treatments are applied directly to the nail and are chosen based on the severity of the infection and the type of fungus identified.
Oral antifungal treatment
In more severe cases or when topical treatments are insufficient, an oral antifungal treatment may be prescribed by the podiatrist. This treatment is highly effective but requires a complete assessment of your overall condition to ensure its safety.
Nail thinning (debridement)
To increase the effectiveness of treatments, we perform mechanical thinning of the nail (debridement). This procedure facilitates the penetration of antifungal agents and helps reduce the fungal load on the surface.
Structured podiatric monitoring
Treating nail fungus requires time and consistency. That’s why we offer regular personalized follow-up, with adjustments as needed based on treatment response. This plan is spread over several months, depending on the progress of healthy nail regrowth.
Why treat nail fungus?
Aside from the cosmetic aspect, untreated fungal infection can spread to other nails or the skin (athlete’s foot). Early intervention significantly increases the chances of a complete cure.
